Slean card project
Hi friends list, I know there are some Sarah Slean fans who read this. So to all of you I'm reminding you about the annual Passioneer Card project for Sarah. There are two weeks to go. All info is behind the cut.
It’s that time of year again, welcome back to the Passioneer Holiday Project
This project has been put together for the past two years and so far it’s been going very well and has been well received. This is a fan run project. It is not endorsed by Sarah Slean. This is something that we as fans want to do for her.
The idea behind this project is that we get so much from Sarah every year through her music and art and we want to be able to collectively give something back. Instead of having everyone buy presents for Sarah our thought is that you can go out and give something back to your community. This way you can pay forward some of the joy we get from Sarah’s music, art, concerts etc.
Last year we opened up the contributions to include any cause that you personally wanted to support. That worked really well and we had such a wide variety of responses that we are going to do that again this year.
Donations can be made to your favourite charities, neighbourhood causes, or anyone you know who could use a helping hand this holiday season. You can donate time, money or any kind of material goods (i.e. clothes to a clothing drive or food to a food drive) to support a local cause or charity.
As in past years we will be making a card with a list of everyone who took part and the city in which they participated. This card will then be given to Sarah after her Toronto concert on the 21st of December.
Please keep discussion about this project off of the message board at sarahslean.com. For all discussion we have a yahoogroup which you can find here: http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/slean_holiday/join
Or if you have any question you wish to ask privately you can contact us via email at slean_holiday@yahoo.ca . We’re going back to what we did the first year this project was running and aiming to keep all discussion off of the message board at www.sarahslean.com. Please also do not mention this to Sarah if you see her in concert before Dec. 21st. While this probably won’t be a complete surprise for her we like to make it as much of a surprise as is possible.
Once you have participated/donated please send an email to slean_holiday@yahoo.ca with the following information:
Your name: (as you’d like it to be entered on the card)
Your screen name: (if you’d like that to be on the card)
What you did: (we don’t need amounts or specifics. Something like “volunteered at a soup kitchen” “donated to Goodwill” etc, whatever you would like to say. Please note we are not putting amounts of monetary donations or amounts of any goods donated etc. on the card)
City in which you donated:
Everything is on the honour system, you don’t need to provide proof, just go out and do a good thing.
***We are instituting one major change this year and that is that we are now going to have a draw for participants this year. After the cut off date we will be doing a draw for the following items:
1. Pink Floyd Redux cd (Sarah has contributed 2 cover songs on this album)
2. A copy of Sarah Sleans’ poetry book Ravens
3. A print of the Emily’s Chariot Lithograph
The winners will be announced on the 19th of December. We will post them on our yahoogroup as well we will contact them directly. If you win and will be at one of the Harbourfront concerts please let us know and we will bring your item with us to be hand delivered. If you win and aren’t going to be at either of the Harbourfront shows then we will mail your item out to you.***
As always we are looking forward to hearing about your contributions to this project. The cut off date for letting us know what you did is on Dec. 17th 2007. The card will be given to Sarah on Dec. 21st 2007 after her show at Harbourfront that night. If you are there please feel free to ask to see the card before the show or stick around for it being delivered after the show in the lobby.
