For good or ill, there are pictures in this post.
First, though, I've joined
Pinterest! Come find me! I don't have much up there yet, mostly because of the fear of confessing to liking various things in public (frex, no pix of the totally schlumpy turtleneck pattern I'm thinking of making. Or the fact that my real TBR pile is heavily stocked with old Victoria Holt novels. Ahem.) Anyway--it's loads of fun and kind of addictive.
Ok, picture time! Here is a strangely tiny image of the Old Mill I've been stitching. It's finished and heading off to the framers next week!

And now onto the Misbehaving Kirtle. Something is Very Wrong with the way the skirt is attaching (or, um, currently *not* attaching) to the bodice, and I can't figure out how to fix it.
Here it is from a couple of weeks ago, when it looked like I was almost finished!
...But closer inspection reveals a strange wrinkle/bubble where the skirt attaches to the bodice:
I thought it would be a simple fix--just take the skirt up by half an inch or so. Which worked, except...
Now I can't figure out how to reattach it! $@!&*%@!!! It also made some funky wrinkles where the flat section nudges into the cartridge pleats:
Again, I *think* that should be reasonably simple to fix (just pleat a little more of the flat section). But I'm not sure how to go about this. Do I need to completely unpick the skirt from the bodice and start over? I have a feeling I'm going to have to hand-stitch the entire thing (in the first version, I had machine stitched the V waist), which isn't a problem, except that I'm not sure how to get a nice crisp point at the bottom of the bodice V, nor am I sure how to attach the skirt where I want it.
So I am still scowling fiercely at the thing, no idea how to progress.
Fiend.
