Yes, the one due today. Eh.
Fifteen pairings meme
(gacked from
silver_sandals at lj)
Six ships you're into right now
(1) Han/Luke, because I don't even have slash goggles but whoa
(2) Leia/Han/Luke, because I think they're best together, there's so very much subtext in all directions, even ignoring the retrocest psychic twin bond, and everything's better with Leia. Also, for some reason Han + twins never ceases to amuse me.
(3) Darcy/Elizabeth, because I'm always into them
(4) Aang/Toph -- idek why, but the idea is adorable to me
(5) Harry/Ron/Hermione, for the same reason as #2, though with less subtext and less squick
(6) Anakin/Padmé, because . . . I don't know why. Even though there's hardly any chemistry and the dialogue is awful (yes, even by SW standards), there's something compelling about them for me. I want Empress Amidala/Jedi Skywalker so bad guys, I don't even know.
Three ships you liked but don't like any more
(1) Harry/Ginny -- I was a wholehearted shipper until HBP, and that made me hate it instead. :(
(2) Brandon/Marianne -- yes, I know it's canon. It gets squickier as I get older, and I just ... no. Also, it bores me on top of disturbing me, which is like a double-decker sandwich of DO NOT WANT.
(3) Sirius/Lupin -- I was never really a shipper, but I liked it well enough. These days I tend to dislike it -- maybe because of the their-love-is-so-canon shippers, but I think more because (1) Lupin ended up with Sirius' baby cousin, which is kind of icky to me, and (2) they seem kind of ... incomplete, with James' absence taking up this huge space in their dynamic, that I can't really see it working out.
Four ships you never liked
(1) The Doctor/Rose -- ehh, elderly widowers rebounding from the genocide of their species by picking up nineteen-year-old girls just doesn't work for me, aliens or no aliens. Also, it feels kind of shoved down our throats and I didn't even like Rose that much.
(2) Elizabeth/anyone-but-Darcy -- not because of the inexplicable single target sexuality we get in fic (lolwut), or even OTP shipping; I can completely see Elizabeth being perfectly happy with someone else. It just bores me.
(3) Obi-Wan/Anakin -- I don't have shipping goggles anyway, but the instant someone describes someone else as "like a father to me," any possibility of shipping goes into negative numbers. Also, I hate, hate, hate pairings across lines of authority, and nurture a particular hatred for teacher/student and parent/child ones, and Obi-Wan/Anakin manages to hit both squicks at once. *shudder*
(4) Sirius/Lily -- I don't have a visceral hatred for this, I just ... don't get it. They seem to have been reasonably fond of each other by the end? But IMO, it's pretty clear that Sirius regarded Lily largely as an extension of James. And I can't see him betraying James ever. So no.
Two ships you're curious about but don't actually ship
(1) Snape/Lily. Interesting, but ... idk.
(2) Han/Lando. I can totally see it, it's intriguing, but I can't say I ship them.

When I write a story, what do you immediately look for?

I don't know any funny jokes. About anything. But hey, I thought
this was awesome.
Fanfic meme
Day 18: Where do you get the most inspiration for your fics (aka "bunnies") from?
Yeah,
I know what they are. I get them from all sorts of things, really. I'm writing an essay or reading/watching something and I think "it might have happened this other way" or "wouldn't it be cool if ...?" or "wow, that would make an awesome crossover!" etc etc -- or I'm reading fic, and think "eh, I don't really see it that way" or "I know it's fanon, but it could just as easily be like this," or "wtf?!" or "I don't really see that happening...unless..." or "why doesn't anyone do X?" or or or.
My brain, I guess.
