The Simple Woman's Daybook
FOR TODAY Monday, February 25, 2013
Outside my window ... Cloudy-bright. Snow on the ground. Typical February Day. I did see a few wild turkeys during my morning drive (just outside Waterloo). I saw some yesterday, too, between Burgoyne and Paisley.
I am thinking ... that I should figure out how to put pictures in my LJ posts.
I am thankful for ... I won a free coffee on my "Roll up the Rim" cup yesterday! I'm enjoying a large decaf with cream this morning because of it.
From the kitchen... I think tonight we'll have left over meatloaf with mediterranean chutney.
I am wearing... my flannel-lined jeans, grey turtleneck, Andean sweater, black wool socks, the Mary Janes I borrowed from sionnach_sidhe (the doctor told me to wear hard-soled shoes for the next couple weeks while my toe heals), my usual rings, and a pair stainless steel stud earrings.
I am creating... I was reminded that Winter War is this weekend. I must get the new Heralds tabard finished. Eeek!
I am going... to Winter War this weekend.
I am reading... Still working on "Phantom." I drudged through several chapters of Objectivist preachiness and gratuituous descriptions of barbarian destructiveness and now the story is back on track. I'm far more interested in whether Richard finds the book Shota mentioned and what happens to Kahlan. Goodkind could have really used a better editor! If I wanted to read Rand, I would read Rand.
On Friday, I discovered I had some credits at Cream of the Crop in Elmira, so I picked up a few things for Alexander including some books. Last night we read "Stellaluna". It's a sweet book, a sort of re-telling of "The Ugly Duckling". He wasn't completely into it. His favourite story right now is Beatrix Potter's "The Two Bad Mice."
I am hoping... I can stay focused enough to get a lot of sewing done this week. I also probably need to go to Guelph at least three times to get my client there's books in order.
I am hearing... forced air in the ventilation system. I tried turning on some music (Bach for Book Lovers), but it was annoying me.
Around the house... Doug & fineum stayed with us Thursday night before heading out Friday morning (with theagentx in tow) for Candlemas in the Midrealm, so the library/guest room got a whirlwind lick & a promise. I really need to get that room properly re-organized and everything that goes in there put back in there. I need to call for help again. But not this week. I need to sew.
One of my favorite things... Pizza made in a wood-fired stone oven like in Italy. And panzerotti like they used to make up the street from our house in Francavilla. I haven't ever found a place in North America that makes them "properly."
A few plans for the rest of the week: Sew!!
