Update from the house of Plague (Day Fnarg Year 2) 30th of December

Dec 30, 2021 21:17

Metro: The UK reported a daily record of 189,213 Covid cases today.

The 189,213 confirmed Covid-19 infections is the latest record to tumble after a fortnight of unprecedentedly high case totals - while deaths also rose dramatically, to 332.

However, those figures are likely to have been inflated somewhat because of delayed reporting over the festive period - and particularly by a backlog of hospital deaths reported by NHS England from December 24-29.

Yet the latest data shows that in the last seven days alone, some 984,147 people have tested positive in the UK.

And what is the government's response? Any kind of lockdown or restrictions? Oh no... (the below is a parody account, but alas, it speaks the truth.)

BREAKING: If you're concerned about going into a crowded hospital this winter, you can rest assured that if the NHS collapses, the prime minister has a brilliant plan to put you in a tent in a car park and no, I am not joking this time x

I don't even know anymore...

Have a bunch of random stuff, under the cut to not take up all of your flists... All of it very vaguely Christmas themed.

It’s Christmas Day!! It’s time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. It’s the thing that I think we forget due to its commercialization:

CHRISTMAS . IS . HAUNTED

And with that, I bring you another round of cursed Victorian Christmas cards! 🎄 pic.twitter.com/CZQYkRjZol

On Christmas Day 1910, suffragette Mary Clarke (younger sister of Emmeline Pankhurst) died after force feeding in Holloway prison. The first suffragette 'martyr', she is now the subject of a campaign to commemorate her with a statue @mary_statue. https://t.co/Qi2SajoKLh pic.twitter.com/aB06foYEJL

Daily Dimash: ... A Christmas video??

Mostly posting this because it's so hilarious to me. Now, he has no Christmas songs (possibly due to being Muslim, idk, but he doesn't seem to have any sort of issue with Christmas otherwise - as evidenced by the video, maybe it's just never been a priority), but this video is very much Christmas themed: Snow, decorations, Christmas trees, Santa, presents, excited children, the lot. HOWEVER the songs have nothing to do with Christmas, it's like they picked them completely randomly. It just makes me laugh.

And now the family is calling, they might have finished the ginger bread house...

ETA: What the hell, let me add more Dimash Christmassy stuff, just so it's all in one place. :)

From Insta, what I presume is a Happy Christmas (or New Year) msg, going by the background:

And also from Insta (possibly from the same event? Was it part of the recording for the video above?) Dimash playing drums in Santa's grotto. Again, no context:

Finally, this beyond adorable video of Terry Lin surprising Dimash on Christmas Eve, 2018. Terry Lin was one of the other singers on 'I Am Singer' and the two of them became good friends. When Terry realised how young Dimash was, he exclaimed that he (Terry) was old enough to be his father - hence he got the nickname 'Papa Lin' and tried to do his best for his 'surrogate son'. ^_^ He was one of the guest performers at Dimash's first solo concert (Bastau, 2017) and they have performed together a number of times.
