Tonight's TV

Jan 01, 2020 16:31

So, tonight's TV. TV is clearly like buses, nothing for ages, and then three at the same time.

BBC1. 6:55 - 8:00 Doctor Who
Channel 4. 7:40 - 9:00 Bake-Off: Derry Girls
BBC1. 9:00 - 10:30 Dracula

Decisions, decisions.

ETA: Speaking of TV. You know, in the midst of all this doom & gloom, let's not forget that some things ARE getting better.

We watched The Big Fat Quiz of the Year last night, and the contestants were... diverse. And apart from one truly awful sexist joke by Jimmy Carr (that he was called out on!) it was funny without being offensive. (Sometimes outrageous, yes, but not that lazy Straight White Male Comedian 'humour'.)

ETA2: Bake-Off with Derry Girls is VERY MUCH like what Tumblr imagined Bake-Off would be with Good Omens characters. I.e. wonderful. Sometimes literally screaming at the screen, and other times almost crying with laughter.

ETA3: Dracula (part 1) was... mmmmm, delightful. I read the book last year, and it keeps the tone (but adding a good dollop of humour!), cuts all the dull bits and instead adds awesome nuns. Anything more would be spoilery, although I want to add that the gore is very well done and very innovative. (Which is quite the compliment coming right off Hannibal. But yeah, excellent Hammer Horror.)

Doctor Who - first thing tomorrow! I hear that it's Quite Something and that one should Stay Unspoiled. :)
