One Bloody Night of TV

May 04, 2006 00:56

Long day. Shoot went well, but I got sunburned. Met an adorable Mexican former soap opera star on yesterday's shoot and got to use some of my oh-so-stellar Spanish skills. But I must've done all right 'cause I got the cultural O.K. of the kisses-on-the-cheek good-bye from both him and his translator and no one else did. Go me.

got the new Thursday album. Hell yes. Also treated myself to an old Sonic Youth album. Double hell yes. Decided that the next pet I get will be named Thurston Moore. Hey, I already had a bird named after a first lady, I have a dog named after a hockey player and a cat named after a french author, so why not an indie rocker next?

Now onto important matters...

I have suddenly remembered why I will miss Alias so much when it's gone and why I used to love it as much as I love LOST now. It's returning to it's roots, and even though most of it could technically be considered plot recycling and regurgitation, somehow it doesn't seem that way. I'm excited about Sloane being evil again and Ana being a Sydney double. I'm happy Renee and Nadia are dead and that Vaughn is coming back. Even the Marshall-blabbering-Jack-being-impatient scenes are making a comeback. I can even deal with Tom and Rachel now, though I wish Kelly Peyton would peace out permanently.

1. So...Ana Lulu and Libby are goners. Not really news. Michael killing them wasn't a shock. And even though I've never been a Libby fan, I feel really bad for Hurley. Poor guy. :( I'm interested to see Jack and Sawyer's individual reactions to Ana's death.

2. Is it wrong that the sex scene between Sawyer and Ana did nothing for me, but when Ana comes back in the hatch and Jack brushes her hair from her forehead, that got me? This only confirms that I'm so hopelessly Jack-ified that I can't be helped. It's actually kind of sad.

3. The Others wanted Locke, huh? Sent Gale to get him. Interesting.

4. Liked Jack and Locke finally getting along for like, a millisecond there. Of course, that won't last. Especially not after Ana and Libby's death that Michael is going to frame Henry for. Guess who Jack is gonna blame for that one?

5. Sawyer was so jealous of Jack and Kate. I liked how he tries to get Ana jealous of Jack and Kate too but she just threw it back in his face. And he looked really weird after he and Ana did it, like he actually cared or something. When he was on the ground, looking up at her? He had this look on his face that didn't convey he was just checking out her body. It was really weird. Or was that just me?

6. Oh Michael. Most fans will revere you for killing Ana Lucia. And dislike you for killing Libby. So it's a 50/50. I'm actually the opposite, happy to see Libby go and unhappy to see Ana die, but I know I'm the odd one out.

7. I really doubt Sawyer wouldn't have noticed Ana taking his gun until then. COME ON. A con like him would've seen through that sex plot in two seconds and called her on it, she never would've gotten away with that. I really thought he was just gonna give her one, like a fair trade, it seemed so much more Sawyer-like.

8. The backstory...once again introducing connections that can never be brought to fruition, so what's the point? It's like the Jack-Shannon hospital connection and the now useless Libby-Hurley mental institution connection. I mean...I guess we could just take them at face value, they don't necessarily have to mean anything island-wise, but really, I just don't see the point unless the have an impact on the island-story.

9. Jack might have a sister he doesn't know about? BZUH? If it's Claire, which seems likely given who they cast as the mother, I'm going to freak. And delete my Jack/Claire story.

10. Christian gave Ana the name SARAH? Well, that should fuel the Christian-Sarah affair theories some people have.

as for NEXT WEEK...

All looks great, save Sawyer holding Kate in his arms while she's crying. I'm so sick of this love triangle stuff. I know I sound like a broken record and feel free to tell me to shut u, but I wish they'd just ditch it if they're not going to resolve it. Because I usually enjoy the tension that love triangles provide on shows, but this one is just grating on my last nerve. I'd be worried about the whole Eko-falling-off-a-cliff thing, but I know they'd never kill Eko off right now so I'm assuming it's a dream or something.

P.S. Are my reviews negative? People complain after every episode that other people are negative and then I feel bad, like I'm contributing to something nasty. I know some of my comments are negative, but mostly I just consider them observations. I only criticize because I am so invested in the show, like a mother who loves her kid dearly and therefore gets upset when she knows they could do better but they don't meet their potential. Because I know the writers on LOST are really brilliant and they could totally do better sometimes. Oh well. Apologies if I'm being a Dark Cloud. Don't mean to.

Other shows...

Would they just escape already?

Logan Huntzberger is a poor man's Tristan DuGrey. I hope One Tree Hill gets cancelled on the CW and they bring Chad Michael Murray back to GG. That's a love triangle I could get behind. NEVER happen, but hey, a girl can dream. Logan makes me crazy.

Alexis Bledel...hey, ever heard of acting? You used to be able to do it. Now it's like you're Chirpy McChirpsAlot and all you do is peer out wide-eyed from underneath a swath of overpowering bangs.

Luke and Lorelai...I was a major JavaJunkie...but Lorelai, go back with Christopher! Please!

The Palladinos are leaving the show. I used to fear this day. But this season has stunk so badly, I actually think an infusion of fresh blood might so dome good, because personally I don't think the Palladinos have been doing too hot.
