The "ten"-year old nodded. "Yeah, Mom."
"Good," she said, "then let us be off."
She was the first off the ramparts, spreading her wings to catch the night air.

He and Kat exchanged a look. Franklin was took big a target, especially if Thailog thought he was Goliath, to be sent fleeing, not if Thailog was armed. "Go, lad," Hudson told Nash, who leaped off and back toward the castle.
"Stay here," Franklin," Kat insisted. "We shall deal with him..."
As one, she and Hudson jumped from the roof, wings spread, gliding toward Thailog below.

Kat was faster, but lacked his reach and strength. Hudson, closer in size, but diminished by age. Only a few strikes in, and it was already a rough battle.
"Too cowardly to face me, Goliath?" Thailog cackled, as his blade struck out, leaving a shallow gash across Hudson's shoulder, making him drop his sword.

Goliath looked up toward the warehouse roof, then remembered himself and looked at his hands ruefully.
"Now somebody needs to take him and hang him upside down from a street light," said Franklin gravely.
