Shod footsteps came from the darkness, and then the human Goliath appeared, his service revolver in his hand and his dark eyes watchful and wary. When he saw Hudson and Katana he quickly put the gun away. "What happened?"

Hudson stares in surprise, but the old warrior is quick on his wits. "We took the lad for a glide with us, but as ye can see, we ran into a spot o' trouble."

Goliath's first impulse was to go for his cuffs, but then he remembered that they were tempered for human strength and scowled. "Thailog."

Thailog turned his attention to this new arrival. "Oh, don't tell me the detective's condition is catching."

"Now wouldn't that be interesting." The thought of human Thailog actually brought a grim smile to Goliath's face.

Then he sobered as Franklin twisted the other gargoyle's arms. "Gently, son. One cannot be cruel to prisoners, no matter what they are."

"Leaves us with quite the problem, though," Hudson said. "I'd sooner not imprison him in our home and I'll not see the Labyrinth Clan endangered by asking it of them. And we cannae simply leave him to the police..."

"Have you any ideas, old friend?" He put a knee on the back of Thailog's neck, absently reinforcing Franklin's hold on him.

Goliath rapped him on the back of the head with the butt of his revolver, then looked up at Hudson. "I could try what I once did in a similar situation."

It was enough, for the moment, to put Thailog out cold.

"What did you do?" Kat asked.

He weighed the gun in his hand, face grave an a bit frightened. "I shot the perp in the head."

Hudson looked grim. "A monster such as this one, I'm tempted. Help me, but I'm tempted. This beastie's been naught but trouble fer us."

"The... man lived, though changed." Goliath's eyes flicked toward Franklin, who was still grimly holding his unconscious foe in the pin.

"A risky proposition," Katana replied, eyes on her sword. None of them killed lightly, though many either had or were capable of it, if the situation ever truly called for it.

She looked over to the boxes Thailog had been hauling outside. "We prevented his goal tonight. So thwarted, he will not try again in this manner. Perhaps it would be best if we simply removed him from this location for tonight."
