Cthulhu Fhtagn

I found this link when I was reading someone's LJ. Ahahah... I want one!!!

Of course in order to get one I need to a) open a Belgian bank account ("Hello, I have no income, give me an account" is what everyone Bank attendant to hear I am sure!) then b) open a paypal account (it won't let me have one with a UK bank account and a Belgian address, I am just too international it seems!) and c) sell some old stuff to make money on E-bay (no success without paypal account, nobody wants my shoes - buhu!) and d) buy wristband! Gosh... all very complicated these days!!

If you don't know who Cthulhu is, then read The Call of Cthulhu by H. P. Lovecraft. It's a classic! I love the way he writes... who else uses words like "cephalopod"? And no, I did not know what it meant, and yes I did have to look it up! I also didn't know that "eldritch" meant "strange or unearthly; eerie" - did Andrew Eldritch (Sisters of Mercy) chose this name or is it actually his own name? All very funny... Another day another English word learnt... only like one billion to go! Stephen Fry once said that comparing the amount of words in the English language to the amount of words in other languages was a bit like comparing the population of China to that of other populations and he was darn right if you ask me! My excuse for not knowing words is still that I am foreign, failing that that I am blond! ;)

Now, try using the word 'cephalopod' in a conversation sometime within the next couple of days. If you can, I will be deeply impressed!

A quote from said text that I like very much:

"That is not dead which can eternal lie,
And with strange aeons even death may die."

"Cthulhu fhtagn" is what it says on the wristbands. If "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" means "In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming" should "Cthulhu fhtagn" then mean "Cthulhu waits" or "Cthulhu is dreaming"? Or am I missing the point?

Ahhh, impending doom is near! The Great Ancient Ones are coming to get us! ;) (Finally...!)

reading, funny
