Making Art & Frustration

I've hit a slight point of frustration with my drawing. I it's mostly me being stubborn. Rather than researching I'm trying to just get it.

Last time at the open sketch we had a fabulous model. She was an older lady with paper thin skin. Every pose she did was fantastic and most of them were very dynamic and told a story. For some reason I had hell trying to draw her and kept stretching her out.

This go-round we had a younger model. She was a large gal and I was excited about all the curves. She is very new to art modeling. Her poses were very stiff and she kept herself tightly balled up. And then she fell asleep in the longer poses. That energy transfers to the artist. I kept having to get up and walk around.

Despite that I managed to get a few decent sketches. I'm still struggling with faces. The lady that monitors the sessions gave me a great tip for proportioning the head by drawing out the shoulders first. Sweet!

This one wasn't my best by any stretch, but look at how proportional that head is!

Hair is also something I'm working on.

However, I'm thrilled with how well the feet turned out.

I'm looking online for tutorials on anatomy and portraitures. My brain likes this making art stuff, even if it is horribly frustrating at times.
