Hello, long time no see! It's new year and we're soon over with January already! Crazy. My second and last semester in Gaidai starts next week and I'm both excited and a bit scared at how close June suddenly is. :x But well, not time to think about that now!
I was in Tokyo last weekend to watch Gamushara J’s Party shows. I once again bought a ticket before we even knew the performers, but I got lucky this time, too. I went to see the first show on 23rd and the evening one on 24th. I already tweeted some stuff but wanted to write about the shows a bit more, especially about the stuff we probably won’t be seeing on the TV show later. I also wanted to share a recording of Shintaro's Snow Prince for those who are curious :D
This time I was super lucky with the tickets, meaning that I was able to watch the show from the third row on 23rd and from the first row on 24th. It was... great. I was also so excited because this time, there were only five of them, all of whom I like a lot, so it was all kinds of perfect. There have usually been 9+ performers on J’s Party shows so I was curious to see how they would do with so few members.
Well, they did great imo. I had so much fun! The setlist was A+, the flow of the show was good, the short MCs weren’t as awkward as I had feared, and I liked the corner where they showed VTRs from other juniors with weird requests and/or quizzes.

The start of the show(s) was very nice with FIRE BEAT and then Otoko never give up. They had mic stands for Otoko, and took off their jackets halfway, and for some reason Shintaro was the only one who wore a tanktop XD (and was tsukkomi’d about that later). Not complaining though. And even better, he came almost right in front of us. There was a Kouchi fan beside me but instead of looking at Kouchi, she was just staring at Shintaro like :0 haha.
I was happy they all had solos! Well, kinda. XD Kouchi had a short dance + impromptu chat, meaning that he talked about a random topic decided by other guys. Juri did Koki’s I don’t miss you, which I was super happy about because I like the song a lot, and Juri’s performance was nice~ For Taiga’s first solo, he came out with a red guitar and that alone made the audience excited. He explained in his cute, humble and shy way that he’s been learning guitar lately and thought that he could play it for the shows. He also told that he’d bought that guitar for his twentieth birthday :3 The song was Tottsu’s but I’d never heard it before...?? It was really pretty though.
Hokuto did Himawari and Plastic Tears at first, and they were nice but what I was really excited about was Think u x. He’d done that in the Fresh Juniors concerts back in 2012, and I was happy to see/hear it again! He came out with a red umbrella and pretty kimono, the same way as in 2012. *___*
And to continue with old solos, Shintaro did Back to Back again :D With a dance break in the middle. Sadly no big backflip/daichuu this time.
Before the shamisen performance, the three went to backstage to change and Taiga and Kouchi were left alone on stage XD They did some chit-chat about the Ippatsu Kimetaru J challenge in general and then started wondering what the shamisen pick is called. Kouchi was like “isn’t something like bachi?”, and Taiga “Is it bachi? Isn’t it shamoji?” XD (It was bachi.)
We’ll see the final shamisen performance soon, so for now I’ll just say that IT WAS COOL. And the moment they walked to stage and I saw that they were really wearing hakama...! They looked so good T__T But on the very first show, you could also tell how nervous they were. Even still, the performance was a success! And just how happy/relieved did they look after it. :D It was cute. And Taiga was all “the Japanese style clothes look good on you!” and Juri went “Right? I’m so cool, ain’t I?”
And Hokuto picked up Shintaro’s pick and showed it to us. He explained that the noise the pick makes when it hits the sound box is important too, and apparently Shintaro had used a bit too much force since the upper corner of his pick had broken. Shintaro said that “well, I thought I’d do it with all my might. I felt the pick breaking and saw the piece flying somewhere”. And: "When the pick broke, my feelings/mood also broke." XD WELL, anyway, it was a success, and I can’t wait to see it on the TV show~ Proud big sister feels.
After the shamisen, they had the VTR corner. Also, Juri was in charge of MCing at this point. It seems that only he knew the contents of the videos (he didn’t know that there was one for him too, though XD).
First was Jesse’s message to Kouchi. He asked him to confess his love for the audience. Oh, and also showed us how he could bend a spoon with ~Jesse Power~. Kouchi said that Jesse really only wanted to show his magic skillz for everyone.
Then, there was a “surprise” message for Juri. The video started by the camera filming someone’s feet and then slooowly going up an almost naked body, until we could finally see who it was (if someone hadn’t already guessed lol). It was Shoki, and he had been filmed in shower XD He had a quiz for Juri, asking which part of his body he washes first. Hint was that "it's the most important spot". Needless to say that all the guys were literally rolling on the stage laughing while watching the video. Juri guessed left arm. The right answer was the toe next to his big toe on his right foot. XD Shoki showed how it’s kind of short compared to his other toes, and that resulted in Juri talking about Shoki’s toes for a while. RIGHT. IDK EITHER. In the end Juri was like "let's be like that video never happened, ok".
Next was for Taiga. Juri went “who is it, who is it?” and Taiga was like “Isn’t it obvious?” Well, it was. XD It was Myuto. He asked Taiga what’s the drama Kyomoto-papa was acting in (Hissatsu Shigotonin... 5? iirc) and then told Taiga to act out a scene from the drama where his father’s character kills someone with this special skill thing. Taiga wasn’t quite sure about the skill at first but he tried to act it out with Hokuto. It was funny, Hokuto was about the fight Taiga by using his mic as a sword. Eventually that all resulted in Taiga jumping on Hokuto’s back XD
Like this. Next one was for Shintaro, from Genki and Jinguji. Jinguji was like “Shintaro used to do that, right? Back then. For his movie. That he starred in.” And at that moment, the audience went “AAAH” and I also went “AAAAH” because I knew what was coming and yet couldn’t believe it! They wanted Shintaro to sing Snow Prince in a cool way. Jinguji was like “go back to time when you were so cute” XD SHIN’S FACE RIGHT THEN. All the others guys were also like “I want to see that!” and then they talked a bit about the time when Shin had been a little angel. Meanwhile Shin was all “wait wait wait, I can’t, what no, WAIT.” He was so flustered, it was cute~ Then suddenly, Kouchi noticed a fan who had a baby Shin uchiwa from like 2008, and they brought it up on stage and Shintaro posed with it. THE BEST. I'm happy papa pics of that moment exist.
Juri acted as Shintaro’s mic stand so that he could properly do the hand furis and all. Shintaro started at first by humming the beginning of the song but Juri tsukkomid by saying that it’s taking too long so he went to the chorus part. He did okay-ish, though there were small pauses when he was trying to remember the lyrics. Also he completely messed around with the high part because lol he naturally can’t hit those notes anymore XD BUT IT WAS SO GREAT, I would like to thank JinguIwa for this one. And to make it even more amusing, we had been to karaoke with Siina that day and had sung Snow Prince and had been talking jokingly about how Shintaro should do the song again now. So yeah, THANK YOU.
Shin had the same VTR on the 24th show I went to, and then he did it with a real mic stand and a bit smoother, AND the audience was singing the chibi juniors backing vocals for him, it was kinda cool! (Links at the end of the entry.)
Then lastly, Hokuto. His message was from Yasui. Yasui wanted Hokuto to do limbo. XD At first, the bar was super super low but Hokuto tried still but couldn't really do it. Then, Juri, Taiga and Shintaro went to help him and held the bar a bit higher and this time he managed to go under it. On the other show, he needed to spin the hula hoop 10 times with a cool face. Both of these tasks were rather entertaining to watch, especially since he was still wearing the hakama. Hula hoop also resulted in Hokuto-sensei’s hiproll class, since the other guys were all “how do you do that??”. So in the end, they were all standing there in row, shaking their hips and I kinda didn’t know where to look :::D The problems.
I had seen the guys on concerts before but now it was interesting to watch them from so close. I know this goes with like every Johnny's guy, but they are all SO SMALL/THIN. >_< Even Hokuto and Shintaro. These Japanese...
Taiga was so white and at one point when he was wearing this long red coat, he really looked like some anime prince. Flawless hair and fair skin and, idek how he does that. Taiga was also staring at us so much for some reason. I think he and Shintaro were the only ones who noticed us. But yeah, it was great to see them at so close range. And it was great to watch them perform together and have fun/mess around on stage with each other. They are so comfortable with that bunch, it’s nice to watch.
And Shintaro. ;_; He’s grown so so much, and I don’t mean physically right now. He’s so much more natural and relaxed and easygoing on stage nowadays. He still doesn’t talk that much but when he does, he’s tsukkoming or cracking jokes, making the others and audience laugh. OR THEN, saying something weird and being the "mood breaker", like they said on one show XD But he can take the boke role so well these days too, and is okay with doing ridiculous things and being laughed at and all. IT’S SO GREAT TO WATCH since I remember how awkward he still used to be a year-two ago. I say Morotaro and hanging out with Shoki has probably helped with that a lot :D It was the best to watch him have fun on stage with the guys he’s so comfortable and close with ♥
And now he hopefully knows he has a fan in Finland, too XD On 24th, I saw him eyeing me and my uchiwa at times but that's all. But there was this one amazing moment during an MC. Juri was talking about how he had showered between the shows and then how EX Theater offers shampoo etc for them and stuff. And for some reason, Shintaro tried to join the talk, saying something about the catering staff, and Juri was a bit like ”??” but then went ”so yeah, then I went to the catering staff asking if they have shampoo for me” OR SOMETHING, idk but Juri just kept going on with his talk, and kinda ignored Shintaro’s attempt to join in. When Shin realized this, he turned towards the audience with a :| face and was pointing at Juri, like saying ”did you see what he did to me?”. He stood like that for the longest time, the audience laughed, and they were even showing his unimpressed face on the screen but Juri didn’t notice anything XD; So after a while Shin just gave up. I had been laughing at him the whole time (he was right in front of me) but was also like ”aww poor boy”. And I don’t really know why but I said ”don’t mind!” to him. And he heard me, laughed and glanced at me super quickly! It was sort of a bitter laugh, like ”lol thank.” BUT STILL. CUTE. Definitely one of the highlights of the shows :Dv I'm mentally patting his head and being ドンマイ quite a lot, so it was kind of amazing to be able to do that straight to him XD
About the guests. On 23rd, me and Siina kept both looking at the second floor balcony seats for guests but couldn’t really see anyone before the show. Except, there was this tall, young guy in a pink hoodie who sat in the first row with a middle-aged woman. The guy was kinda slumped down in his seat and had pulled the hood over his head, in a true teenager way. Turned out it was Subaru and Tanaka mom ::D
On the 24th show I was scanning the balcony for guests again but couldn’t spot anyone, and then read on Twitter later that Shintaro’s mom and sister had been there. >__> Well, they probably blended in with the fangirls quite well.
I THINK THAT’S ALL FOR NOW. This is all so messy, I’m sorry. Also kind of... biased but what can you do u__u
One more note: I was happy to see so many Shintaro uchiwas around me in there :3 I have the feeling that he’s the least popular with Kouchi in that bunch so I’m always happy to see that yes, he has fans too :D (I could also hear sort of impressed/surprised "ah!"s around me when I pulled out my uchiwa on both shows...)
Then, like I said, I want to share Shintaro’s Snow Prince from the 24th show BECAUSE everyone should hear it and I’m not sure whether they’ll show it on TV or not. But here it is. The quality should be okay. And you can even hear the audience singing there in the background :D
The first version is longer, starting at the end of the JinguIwa VTR, and then there’s the short commotion/Juri tsukkoming etc before he actually starts singing. The second one is the song (chorus) only. Take freely but please don’t spread them around!

I bow and thank if you read that all through. XD
