Planning on making a fic journal

Jul 01, 2007 08:56

I've decided to make a journal just for storing my fic, 'cos right now it's scattered across several communities at various degrees of locked. It'll be basic (I've picked out a small set of userpics), and for now won't contain anything new--I'll put in the fics I've already written (currently listed in my memories here), and future updates, and ( Read more... )

elf_fic sounds a bit better to my ear (not that I can justify that). Go to it!

elf_fic is my first choice; it reads better in text. elfs_fic is easier to say out loud... but LJ generally isn't read out loud. (elf_fic gets blurred to "elfic" when I say it out loud, or has a funny extra-long "f" in the middle.)

Very odd, that. I'm not used to noticing the find distinction between words as I read them and words as they sound when spoken.

I agree, better reading and sounds better.

Rob threw some ideas at me; I may settle on elf_tracks.

elfs_fic runs the risk of mental namespace collision with elfs.

The other runs into the same problem with elf. But yes--elfs has a notable amount of fic, and I wouldn't want people to confuse mine with his. (Unless, of course, I got famous because of it. Or could steal his fans.)

I'll probably settle on elf_fic unless I can come up with something clever.

"Fic" might not be the right suffix, since I've got a bunch of filksongs I intend to put in it. But elf_ficfilkmeta is ridiculous.

Well, you could go with 'archive', 'library', 'closet', 'trunk', etc for the suffix if you wanted.

Rob suggests elftracks or elf_tracks. I might go with one of those.
