Why I like "The Voice" - and the inevitable sorting

Apr 14, 2013 00:06

OK, so I've just watched Episode 3 of "The Voice" (UK), because it was on after Dr Who, and then mainlined the highlights of the previous two episodes, with commentary from Daffodil Ranger. As you can probably work out, I enjoyed all of that - the judges, and the contestants, are just so delightfully nice and positive, and pretty talented too, and I guess I'm just in the mood for that, especially at the moment.

The blind auditions were the best part, last year - all the fake competition between "teams" was a bit weird, and it was mostly competition within each team anyway, so they were using the wrong terminology but the bit where people who have talent and want to have a go at singing on television get up and do so, and then the judges encourage them, is lovely. The banter between the judges is great fun - Jessie J is splendidly fierce, Tom Jones has a great twinkle in his eye and Danny (from the Script) is a sweet guy too. But I agree with the Radio Times reviewer - when it's time to put Will.i.am back in to his action figure box for a rest, I'll happily join the queue to take turns in looking after him ;-)

There are four judges, which means I required to sort them - of course they are all in Hufflepuff, but they probably should have secondary aspects. Opinions welcome, and then I'll share mine...

Oh, and you should have David Soul as the icon for this post, but the icon selection menu doesn't work for me *sigh*

ETA 1st Nov 2013 - icon selection has now come back - who knows why, or what else has changed, but it makes me happy!
