It was full of awesome, including...
PIE!
The Boy and I made two pies, raspberry (which needed a bit more sugar) and peach-pomegranate (which was better). And in total Pushing Daisies dork-out mode, I convinced him to use the extra crust and filling to make cup-pies. It was amazing and yummy and dork-tastic and it needs to happen again when I can find gru-however-you-spell-it cheese to bake into the crust. (^___^) There will be photos, whenever the Boy gets around to uploading them. Hee, I has PieMaker.
COSPLAY!
Thursday night we kidnapped Dawn-go for a long weekend of cosplay madness, since Kawaii Kon is coming up and Dawn-go has no sewing machine of her own. Dude, it’s going to be awesome! Dawn-go is cosplaying Bankai Ichigo, complete with sword and Hollow mask and bright orange hair. I’m cosplaying Ukoku Sanzo with Shime’s Koumyou Sanzo, and Yachiru with Dawn-go’s Ichigo. I still have to finish Ukoku’s gloves and sutra, and make Yachiru’s sword and lieutenant badge, but ahahahahaa! I got Dawn-go to teach me how to weave sandals from jute twine, and now I have hand-woven sandals of awesome!
PICS!
The frame for the sandals
Weaving... I put a couple layers of cotton batting in between the bleached (ha!) jute twine for padding.
Sandals! They’re actually pretty comfy. And, as Dawn-go enthuses, they contain absolutely no knots! Spiffy.
The fruits of our labors. (Not shown: attachable sleeve extensions to turn the Yachiru robe into Ukoku’s robe) There’s still a whole bunch of things we need to finish, but not bad for 3 days of mad sewing.
And Friday the Boy and I have plans to traipse about town getting more materials so I can make the sutra for Shime to sanskrit-ify for me, get the Boy to help me make Yachiru’s sword, and so I can make the Boy’s luchador mask. Hee!
And durr, Soto needs to get Dad to fix the router, so she can get Internet in her room again and catch up on all her late night reading...
