Life, the Universe, and Something

I realize it's been a while since I updated.  So I'm updating now.

My job hunt is finally about to possibly end.  More on this later.  The last thing I need is someone swooping in to snatch the job out of my grasp.

I bought a new belt today.  Normally this wouldn't be important enough to make the update.  But I haven't really done anything else this week.  I went to Al's Boots and Saddlery.  They seem to have higher quality goods than Walmart etc.  Anyhow, the staffperson there kept asking me questions about the belt I wanted.  What color? What design?

Form follows function.  As a result I found a plain brown one with reinforced holes.  It brings me joy.  Especially after the recent passing of my last belt.  The one with all the tape on it holding it together.

My amusing thought of the day hasn't arrived yet.  I'll wait around a bit.  Phonetic ambiguities are fun.  You know, words that could have multiple correct pronunciations.  Especially when you start randomly adding the letter r.  Or a couple silent/unsilent k's.  We did this at church once.  Trying to find the longest way to spell "Phil."  What we ended up with was both incredibly awesome and terrifying:

Speaking of awesomeness, we had the first of our 'fishing pools' for youth group yesterday.  It's basically an attempt to evangelize/convert the heathen teens of Ames.  So if you happen to be a heathen teen with nothing to do on Tuesday nights, head over to Emma McCarthy Lee Park around 7:00.  PM.  On Tuesdays.  It may be named after a McCarthy, but we don't hunt commies.

Not that the fishing pools themselves are awesome.  I mean, they could be.  But we didn't have any heathens yesterday.  So it was sort of less-than-awesome.  Except we played a game where Justin claimed to be awesome.  This made me happy.  And was slightly more fun than watching paint dry.

Also yesterday I applied at Pizza Hut because mom told me to.  So I went over there.  I'm surprised by how many places don't need a resume for applications.  However, it's very helpful because I have my references listed on mine.  So instead of "Oh crap, what's his/her name/phone number/address" I can just copy it.

ANYWAY.  Back to my original point.  I drove across town to PH and had to turn around after filling out the application.  Because I'm 17.  And they needed an adult signature to verify that my family has never been on food stamps or welfare etc.  I'm pretty sure I know that we haven't.  I would probably be eligible for at least some financial aid if we were.

I think that's about it.  Thanks for listening.  Er.  Reading.  Until next time.
