Well, so -

I really want to write a proper update, but I'm being a terrible procrastinator as it is. I have to shower and read two more chapters of Jane Eyre before I sleep. Class at 10. Better than 8:30!

Semester so far has been pretty great. I miss all my study abroad friends, I miss JASC, and I miss Sensei's classes :( But I really love all my courses this year, and we're singing some lovely Hebrew songs in chorus, and we're doing new pieces in Hand-Drums too. I hope I get a chance to play a dun-dun this time.

I just started reading the manga Aoi no Hana, I really like the art style (and I just realized this is also the author of Hourou Musuko, which explains why the art and story themes are so alike...) and the characters thus far. But I've only just started, and except for Utena, I've never read any explicit yuri. I'm not sure I'll like it, that'll depend on what the story's like. But I loved Hourou Musuko, and I've really liked Aoi Hana so far, so I'm expecting good things. :3 Shimura Takako is rather talented, I think.

Also, I watched the latest BBC program, Sherlock, which sets the Sherlock Holmes stories in 21st century London. (Thankfully, not the 22nd century - no cyborg Watson or female!love interest!Lestrade.) I was wary going into it because Benedict Cumberbatch with his poodle hair does not appeal to me as Sherlock Holmes at all. He's not attractive to me, and I think he looks like he's fourteen, so the image didn't match mine of Holmes the tiniest bit. But... I fell in love with him as soon as he appeared on screen. For one thing, his voice? Is perfect for Holmes. So deep, so articulate. I swear, I swooned. And he plays this modern interpretation of Holmes extremely well. He is the best thing about the mini-series and I would be so sad if they made an ongoing series and he wasn't in it D:

(The series, unfortunately, is only three episodes, plus one unaired pilot. I don't know why it's so short. There are three more episodes set to be released in autumn 2011 [why so far away!!], and probably that'll cap it. I wish they would make an ongoing Holmes series. It would be fantastic. A real modern interpretation of Holmes. I felt the way I did during the first season of House, all excited...)

Anyway, end result, I love Benedict Cumberbatch (isn't that just the most perfect name ever??), and I love Martin Freeman as Watson too. He does a great job too, though I wish Watson got to be a little more active. He's no Nigel Bruce, and the affection and interdependence between Holmes and Watson is very strongly felt. Even so... I just like Watson a little more kickass.

I don't have just praise for this series, but since I really should go shower now, I'll have to write about it tomorrow.

In other news, Chapter 11 of ASB is finally close to completion. I'M SO PROUD OF MYSELF. Aaaugh this chapter has been a bitch to write, but my Creative Writing class rescued me from writer's block and I'm finally producing something worth reading. YAY YAY YAY now to decide when I'm going to procrastinate more homework in order to finish it.
Oh yes. And I am in love with L'arc-en-ciel (again) and Yuzu. Yuujin and Kouji are fantastic. I adore "Niji" and "Shi-shi-ka-ba-bu."

my muse is a high-maintenance wench, life, school, manga, that's shiiiiiiiiny, fanfiction, music, sherlock holmes
