I'm dedicating the first song to Charles, as he's the biggest Kansas fan I know. The second is going out to all of us that sing to the songs on the radio, but always forget which part comes where in a song.
Kansas
Carry On My Wayward Son
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher
But I flew too high
Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
I can hear them say
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, well
It surely means that I don't know
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
No!
Carry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
The center lights around your vanity
But surely heaven waits for you
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry (don't you cry no more)

Leaving On A Jet Plane
I... I...
All my bags are packed
I'm ready to go
I'm standing here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin'
This early mornin'
The taxi's waitin'
He's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could cry
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe I hate to go
I...
There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I tell you now
They don't mean a thing
Every place I go, I think of you
Every song I sing, I sing for you
When I come back
I'll wear your wedding ring
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe I hate to go
Now the time has come to leave you
One more time
Let me kiss you
Close your eyes
I'll be on my way
Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the time when I don't have to say...
Oh, kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe I hate to go
I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe I hate to go
I'm leaving on a jet plane
leaving on a jet plane
leaving on a jet plane
leaving on a jet plane
I... leaving on a jet plane
I... leaving on a jet plane
I... leaving on a jet plane
I... leaving on a jet plane

I also want to dedicate these songs to the idea that for lack of a modern rock station, I'm forced to listen to these songs about 1-2x a week on any other given radio station. I've found some respite in a station coming out of Morgan City area that's playing "rock from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and current rock". Still, it's all stuff I've heard before. Makes me want to invest in satelite radio.
And for some of these lyrics I've posted over the last few months, yes I do have a hidden agenda concerning them. Sinister, even. ... Ok, maybe not sinister. Except for that
Violent Femmes day, that was just dementia.
