Productive Day!
Today was overall a very nice day. I had to work all weekend to hurry up and get a report out for the evil company. But, somehow going to work on a Saturday night and finding out that I'd gotten into my grad program made it all worthwhile. I worked while listening to Flogging Molly and intermittently popping up to dance and yell a hearty FUCK YOU!!!! to the empty office.
Today, I slept in a bit before heading back to work at about noon. Finished around 6:30, still basking in the warm glow of acceptance. Then went to my mom's house for champagne and barbecue to celebrate (hey--we never claimed to be classy!) We spent the night going through old family photos and making fun of the 80's hair styles. Let's just say that I'm much better off without bangs.
I then came home and did a major overhaul of the kitchen. I tend to wait until every single dish is dirty and I can't even move to cook and end up eating out for every meal before I do the dishes. When I got rid of my roommate, I stopped having to be considerate for anyone else. I'm looking forward to living with someone again! Took out all of the recycling (much easier now that I've given up beer for Lent!) and the trash and basically made the place vaguely livable again.
Now, I'm typing this before starting my rewrites for the book. I hope these will be the last. I have to say that it's hard going back to work on it. I'm used to finishing a project, turning it in, and then putting it out of my head and moving onto the next thing without too much thought. Again, it's all a learning process. Mostly I've learned that putting up with an evil company and taking on a huge project like this at the same time is suicide. Much better to be a full-time writer! Ahh, things to look forward to!
