but the world's chubbiest boyband is quite a cute thing to see
Yosh, the trip to the 14th International Tattoo Convention was a success, yo~! \o/^.^\o/
At first it seemed quite impossible to find a tattoo artist to make my and dad's tats, since many of the guys were going to continue making large tattoos they had started on Saturday. I get it: though tattooing something huge, let's say on someone's back, is troublesome and time-consuming, it's what makes you famous. Professionals and devotees of tattoos will look at your work and say, 'Hey, this must be made by Individual Ink Studio's Timppa, yeah? His usage of line is very strong like this. Cool~' and so on. Big, notable tattoos are tattoo artists' visiting cards. So, they aren't necessarily into making small, cute tattoos of which only purpose is to look nice. A couple of guys turned me down right away after seeing my small star -one guy, a Japanese, told he's specialized in Asian styled arm-sized tattoos, and a couple of others represented the "old school style" (see examples here) which made it easy for my dad to find a tattooist since dad's picture couldn't have been more old school (a seaman's grave tat with an albatros and a ship).
Well, eventually, we ran into a sweet guy named Terry, who works for a Finnish studio called His Master's Tattoo. He's American but since his Finnish wife didn't like it in the States, he just "shrugged and said okay" and they moved to Finland *lol* His Finnish was pretty poor, but the little he was able to talk with me in Finnish came out without a horrible accent. We ended up chatting in English. It was nice to notice that though I haven't needed to use English in RL in the longest of time, it didn't sound as rusty as I had been scared of. He talked a lot about his wife and his language studies -he has been in Finland only a year now and finally, he was able to find a good language course (8 hours a day, five days a week). His wife's English is even better than his, so naturally they use English at home too. Also, his co-workers' are fluent English-speakers, so he doesn't hear Finnish at work either.
Apparently, a cute little girl like me is sort of rare in the scene, and gotta admit, I kind of stood out in the ocean of bearded, heavily pierced customers, so Terry took extra sweet care of me. He was constantly asking if I was feeling alright and if I needed a break to stretch my neck and stuff. And, he seemed to be quite fascinated by my star after hearing I wanted to keep the scribbly, hand-drawn vibe to it. One of his co-workers ghosted near the whole time I was being under the needle and more than once I heard Terry jabbering excitedly about the sketchpad-like look. He said it gives the tat "character" ♥
And, the best part? It didn't hurt at all. Maybe once or twice I felt a nasty sting, but other than that, having my neck tattooed was almost a pleasant experience. Even Terry laughed he was surprised I took it that well *proud of herself* After this I feel I can handle anything^^b
About the tattoo. It turned out perfect. It didn't bleed at all, like my first one did, and when I was washing it at home, it didn't feel sore. I'm gonna get it photographed tomorrow to show it to you after swelling has ceased and the redness has disappeared a bit.
