In two months I will turn 21. So I guess it's time to start getting ready for a new year.
1. I'm going to start taking ballet classes next week. I've always always wanted to do it just for funsies, and being accosted by Gravey about my weirdly high arches and pointy feet just gave me a push in the right direction. Friday's the big paycheck. Saturday's shopping for ballet shoes.
2. I switched out music theory for French in the fall. Truthfully, I've always been a little obsessed with foreign languages. It just felt like a better fit.
3. I'm going to start up again and keep on marathon training because I know I can do it.
4. I decided to spend some time auditioning next spring before I leave for Italy/Switzerland. What could it hurt to give it a shot? If it doesn't go anywhere, it wouldn't kill me, but if it did go anywhere at all, it'd be a dream come true.
I think it's about time I started really living out the life of my dreams instead of being scared I won't be able to. I've always been that person who will watch someone my age dance or paint or play an instrument really well and then think to myself "Man, I really wish I'd learned to do something like that when I was a little kid, so I could be great at it now." Well, to put it bluntly, fuck that mentality. I'm still young, and even if I wasn't, I don't think it would matter. Life's too short not to be terrible at everything that could make you happy.
5. I'm submitting some writing to a literary magazine tomorrow. Wish me luck.
Maybe if I can somehow keep Don't Stop Believin' stuck in my head for a whole year, I'll be able to pull it all off. I've got a lot of faith in the future.
