MOTHERS OF CHILDREN KILLED BY POLICE NEVER HAVE A "HAPPY MOTHERS DAY"
On Mothers Day, Sunday May 11th, 50 mothers wearing
bloodstained shirts will hold an 11:30AM vigil and
press conference outside of Governor David
Patterson's Manhattan office calling on the Governor
to STOP THE BLOODSHED AT THE HANDS OF NYPD. "We
are wearing these shirts today, mothers day, because
it's all that's left of our children killed by
police because they were Black, Latino, Asian, poor
and disempowered", said Juanita Young - mother
of Malcolm Ferguson - killed by Bronx police in
2000 , "today we say to Governor Patterson "stop the
bloodshed". "We are all mothers", continued the
Bronx grandmother, " some of us have lost our
kids, some of us are afraid every time they leave
the house that they might encounter a trigger-happy
cop and never return."
We are also calling for an end to the NYPD abuse of
mothers who fight to get justice for their children.
Juanita Young, one example of such a mother, has been
attacked and falsely arrested multiple times ever
since she became an out spoke voice against police
violence following the murder of her son. She has a
trial starting soon. Come out on Mothers' Day to
support Juanita and all mothers!
