I am going to download the episode and re-watch because my livestream turned off during the last like ten minutes D:

But the beginning was so timey-wimey and lovely~ and Amy was a BAMF

I'm not a fan of young!River, I must admit. Her whole "I don't care about the universe. I only care about you!" made me want to punch the screen. I'm glad he was mad at her for most of that scene.

It's exactly what Nine said about Rose.

THIS. TBH, the only thing I enjoyed was Amy being a BAMF and the Eleven/Amy scenes.

Totally agree with what you said. I wanted to punch River when she was really willing to sacrifice everybody for the Doctor. That is not love, that is selfishness. You sacrifice your own life and happiness to save someone you love, not other peoples lives. I can't believe the Doctor could seriously love someone as stupid as that.

And the fact that Amy can always remember the Doctor. Can't find much more love than that. The speech at the end of The Girl Who Waited seems kind of ridiculous now that Amy couldn't even remember him here.

Well that was absolutely underwhelming and stupid. I really had high hopes that this season would resolve its issues. Guess not. I really am sick of River. I actually kind of liked her back in Season 4 and 5. Let's just say she is an okay guest character to tease and ruffle the Doctor's feathers. But anything beyond that is too much. I can't believe they actually got married. (The doctor's line about day she's locked up, but the nights are up to them honestly made me want to through my remote at the TV). Amy's face at the end is my reaction to her being the mother in law. GAG ME. I feel like Moffat is trying to write so over the top, mythology, season arcing, episodes. It's like he is trying to make Doctor Who like LOST or something. They are two completely different shows though. LOST knew what it was doing, and could handle characters and mythology. Moffat just doesn't know what to focus on, so it all becomes a gigantic mess. He needs to stop. Go back to the good times of single episodes. He actually is better at messing with your ( ... )

I understand where you're coming from, hon. Let me give you a virtual hug. {{Big huggles}}

I'm sure more fic will come in the next few weeks.

I love Matt as the Doctor, so I'm going to keep watching DW. I'm unhappy with what happened to Eleven/Amy but at the same time look on the bright side: their bond is something so powerful that *nothing* can break it. The hug in the train was awesome and adorable.

Their connection is intact -- I didn't even think we'd get that much, so I was thrilled when they had a scene alone plus the tackling hug. I'm just going to focus on that and stay in my happy place.

"Give me fun, simple yet clever, story-lines, with the Doctor and companion saving the day. TOGETHER. I feel like this isn't even the same show any more."

That's been one of my complaints as the storyline for this year got shaped. You'd think high concept personal bottle episodes would be good character development fodder, but what actually happened is that this season became a one of personal problems (albeit strange, sci-fi influenced ones) instead of adventures, and the main characters became victims instead of heroes. And that's just a big sappy bore, for one thing.

I just have to say, I like River much more as a character than as a pairing with the Doctor. She's supposed to be independent, wild, BAD-ASS. That's why it doesn't really make sense for her world to revolve around the Doctor, or even for her to do much more than just flirt with him. Meh.

I liked the ep overall, but like all of you I was a bit underwhelmed. The only thing that REALLY spiked my interest (besides the Amy/Doctor hug, of course) was the "Doctor who? Doctor who?" question at the end. I was like, D'OH!! It's so obvious! How did I miss it? And now I am very excited to find out more about who the Doctor truly is.

I do hate to say this, but I have to agree with being underwhelmed. I don't know what it was that I was expecting for this ep, but... I don't know, I guess it just wasn't any of that! Like the whole wedding bit, for instance. This is Moffat we're talking about, so I expecting the title to be a total red herring. Boy, was I wrong. :/

I did think the timey-wimey aspect to the whole episode was just WONDERFULLY done, though. And oh my goodness, I adore Dorium. "The wi-fi down here is excellent!"

AND WOW the whole scene between Eleven and Amy had me shrieking. Especially the "You look great" "You too!" part. GAH. <3
