one of the hardest things about being a teenager is all the rough changes and silly circumstances we put ourselves through. its kindof silly, if you think about it, how we always end up having a bad day, or a bad week or we just end up in a bad mood. you'd think that happiness would be a constant feeling, something that would last longer than just a day or two, but as usual something has to happen to bring us down.
i've always thought that the rough times would all come at once and as soon as they're over, then happiness would be allowed to come in and stay for good. well, silly me. i was wrong.
even though hard times come and sometimes linger for a while, theres something we need to keep in mind: God has everything under control.
even when we feel like everything is broken and messed up, it really isnt.
i know this is probably a hard thing to grab ahold of.. but God puts bad situations in our lives to help us. to give us an opportunity for growth, and to help us realize things about ourselves and what he wants for us. no, he doesnt like to see us hurting at all, but he knows how much better off you will after the hardship comes and goes.
everything happens for a reason. there is something good to learn from everything, and sometimes that good thing might be hard to find, but we just need to ask God to reveal it to us.
God wants nothing more for us than to have an extraordinary life, and sometimes it doesnt seem so extraordinary.. but we just need to remember that in the end, God is in control.
one of my favorite verses i've memorized goes like this:
"for i know the plans i have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future" -Jeremiah 9:11
God has a plan for you! to prosper you and give you a HOPE and a FUTURE.
so take heart in hard times, because God has something greater for you.
extra verses:
"in his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps" -Proverbs 16:9
"there is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off!" -Proverbs 23:18
