James 1:2-4 states:
"whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything."
my friend sam sent me this verse in a text message today, and i've been thinking about it for a while. in band practice today, i read it over and over and even now it hasnt left my mind.
Its funny, actually, because i've heard this verse so many times, in different translations, and i've watched my friends live by it, and turn to it whenever they face hardship..
and here i find myself being led to it.
one thing i struggle with is letting God handle my issues. i forget that i don't have to go through all this crap, because God is just standing there waiting for me to ask for his help.
instead of humbling my situation before God, i often find myself nagging about everything that is going wrong. if only i would just embrace each bad time as an opportunity for growth! the more troubles you go through, the stronger you become. but sometimes we're so focused on the bad that we let that opportunity slip.. and it ends up ruining our day, week, or whatever.
find delight in the hard times! i know its a lot easier said than done..
but just know that over time, you will be able to face anything.
