So this weekend was inordinately fun, and I am very pleased about it. Therefore, inspired by
beatonna and other comics writers that I enjoy, I did an hourly comic for yesterday. Basically you draw no more than 2 panels for every hour you were awake. So here it is! It's kind of long/big (that's what she said) and poorly drawn, but it is somewhat accurate.
Also here's a little review of Slither, staring Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks, and some other people.
Slither is an extremely funny, gory, and scary movie in the grand tradition of Evil Dead 2 and the Troma Studios movies. I loved it. It also contains Nathan Fillion faking a southern accent really poorly, a lot of wormey things, some zombies, and the best euphemism for being a lesbian. Which I'm not going to reveal because it made me fall over laughing.
Also it was kind of technically impressive, since most of the monsters were done with prosthetics and puppetry rather than CG. If you rent the movie you should totally watch the special features, especially the one entitled "Who is Bill Pardy?"
One thing that I would caution about is that there's a scene near the beginning of the movie that is intensely disturbing, not because of the gore or anything but because it's almost a rape scene. If that sort of thing really bothers you, skip to the next scene when the mayor of the town (who is fucking hysterical) declares deer season open.
However, watch the rest of the movie, because it's hysterical and over the top, and there are still a couple of moments that will actually make you jump.
