Spring '07 happenings
This semester - my last semester in Geneseo - was great! Very few complaints and a lot of praise. The first cool thing that happened was Chad Pregrake, a speaker who came to Geneseo. He inspired me and together with the Geneseo Outing Club, I put together an Alternative Spring Break trip to Kentucky to clean the Ohio River.... It was simply an amazing time and such a wonderful experience cleaning and getting to know people I would never have met otherwise.
Recently and also amazing - Jack's Mannequin!!!! I saw them in February in ROohester at Water Street with two of my suitmates- Anne and Erica and also Emy and Dan were there. The lead singer, Andrew, crowd surfed but fell down into the crowd. I put my hand in to help him up, with everyone else in the whole place, and he grabbed it and pulled himself up while I put my other hand behind his arm and helped him up!!!! It was a wonderful show, and along with getting to help Andrew, I had a great night with the crowd and the music and everything.
Two days after that concert- Geneseo announced its SPring Concert was Augustana and JACKs MANNEQUIN!! I bought my ticket the first day they were on sale. One week before the concert, Becky, my A.C., volunteered to pick up Andrew and the rest of JM at the airport. She got to drive the uhaul van with their manager and gear in it! She also got to go to the meet and great and hang out backstage near thier dressing room. She asked if she bring a "plus 1" to meet Andrew, and SHE BROUGHT ME!!!! When I found out I was going to meet him, I cried - strongest visceral reaction of my life, really weird. I made a t-shirt and Andrew signed it and also signed a poster. I got a picture with him and stood front row at the concert..... best night of my semester - even though I went alone and had to called UP on the drunk girls in front of me who were threatening to beat everyone up.
Tricia invited Pastor Mark to start a bible study on campus - we had probably about 10 meetings and it went really well. I went on another Newman Retreat to Mt. Iraneous - which was great. I met Tim and Justin and Deedee. Fabulous folks from UB. God has been good to me. I've been "lucky" - but I know it's cuz He's watching out for me.
Boo and I are in the midst of planning our trip for 2008. We are both walking in convocation May 12th, and graduating in December '07 after student teaching. After Christmas from Jan - June or something.... we're hopefully going to Bangladesh to teach English to priests, nuns and seminarians... and then hopefully do some traveling around S.E. Asia and India.
I may or may not be (depending on circumstances) be in Geneseo for the summer. I should know within the next few days, where I'[ll be this summer.
Anyway- I had an interesting semester and I'm sad to see it go :(
My 21st birthday is this coming FRIDAY!!!!!!!!! I'm really excited, my sister is coming up and my friends and I are all going out to dinner on friday and things....
