Summer holiday - day 45

Sep 01, 2009 23:24

No Dalek update today, and there may not be one everyday as I am back to school tomorrow (for me at least), and everything else in the evenings starts up again.

Today, as it was cheap Tuesday, I went to the cinema and saw 'The Time Traveller's Wife'. I shall have to read the book now.

It was quite interesting that Henry didn't do anything on his trips really except wait to go back. A time travel film where the time travel isn't really important. I suppose it's because,by the time we saw him, he had given up trying to change the past as he couldn't. Even his death was mundane, if very tragic and sad.

Some people had asked for the recipe for my Mother's quiche. I got her to tell me it tonight. It is open to variations because she has it in her head and all measurements are approximate.

Vegetarian Quiche

Instructions for a 10” quiche

Line pie tin or dish with shortcrust pastry.
Slice 2 large onions and fry slowly in butter or equivalent until soft.
Slice 4oz mushrooms.
Grate 4oz cheese.
Beat three eggs with ¼ pint milk.
Put onions, mushrooms and cheese into dish.
Pour over egg mixture.
Cook in oven at 190° C, 375° F, Gas mark 5 until egg mixture is set and top is golden brown. Approximately 45 minutes.

It might be best to leave in the tin until cold and then remove carefully.

Bacon and tomatoes can be added for a variation. Sausage and sweetcorn is another combination.
