The Guide Division Banner finished

May 11, 2008 22:36

Today was the County Banner Service. Special because it was the 80th anniversary, and we had the new banner to dedicate. The Chief Guide came!

I was asked to be an escort to the new banner. We didn't parade with the rest of the banners, but brought the furled banner to the altar part way through the service. The priest then dedicated it and it was unfurled; the first time I had seen it all together.

It was then put into its stand for the rest of the service. It was cool as we renewed our promises, led by the Chief Guide. Not a lot of people can say that.

At the end of the service, we led the banners out of the church (after the main colours) and lined up along the pathway for photos and the local dignitaries to chat with us.

We had lots of people taking photos. The other guiders who stitched parts of the banner crowded round as well. The Chief Guide stopped and chatted to us for a while. More photos.

 And my arrows.
