I seem to be in Philosophical Discourse Mode, and I'm not sure I want to get out.

Saturday afternoon I spent longer than a train ride discussing the merits and tropes of YA literature.

Sunday night I spent several hours discussing boys, adolescence, identity, fitting in, etc with my roommate, Jean, & Rachael.  Jean started us out with some boy-counselor stories from NACEL (she gave me contact information and I used her as a reference for the job), and Rachael came in twice:  at the beginning, when she went off on a date on Valentine's Day (which the boy, we're pretty sure, did not realize) and again when she came back a mess of squeeful joy.  But Sarah and I were able to have a rather spectacular conversation about Life.

Monday night I had a religious discussion with Naomi, who's non-practicing Jewish, trying to explain Jesus so that she could understand why people keep referencing the Bible in her Peace & Conflict Studies classes (especially the one she's taking currently, which is.... Religion, Non-violence, and the Meaning of Peace?  I think?)  She had never heard the stories, except for a few OT Passover ones, and it was interesting to try to explain the 'why', the motivation & goals of Jesus coming to earth, what he was trying to do.  I feel like by the end, I had communicated pretty well... it was an interesting balance between history and religion, that I don't usually do.

And I don't know what today's will be... but I think I'm finally starting to understand what my ceramics prof is saying when she shows us slides and says "yes, but what is it DOING?"  And thus I may start to answer said questions.
