I'll try to post in English again, since I'm studying it again I need to practice it, so feel free to correct my mistakes. I'm so happy that I have found Benjamin Franklin library ! now I can read books in English and I don't need to buy them XD The first one I read was the Chinese cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah.
The story is about a little chinese girl who was neglected by her family, with a cruel stepmother, spoiled stepbrothers, and a father and siblings that blame her for the dead of their mother who died when she was born. Actually it is the real story of Adeline Yen Mah and besides of being very touching you may learn about the chinese culture and language because the writer doesn't miss the chance of teaching words and traditions of the China of that time. In fact you may find a copy of the manuscript of the original chinese cinderella story, yes, cinderella is chinese! not french nor italian, I was very surprised when I find it out , but cinderella is an ancient story with many versions, the antique is a greco-egyptian tale, then is the chinese which is very similar to the one we know, a poor orphan girl with an evil stepmother, there is also a festival and a golden (not glass) slipper, then came the french and italian versions wich added the pumpkin and replaced the magic fish for a fairy grandmother. You can find more about it at wikipedia
