Is your car a Honda?

Yes, '94 Accord EX.

Why? Has something like this happened to you?

We have a '94 Civic LX and have had some issues with it (NOT) starting. We had the starter replaced and that seemed to help, but it seems to still be an issue if there is too much moisture in the air. We try to park in the sun. And as you described, you basically come back 30 minutes to an hour later and it usually will start. It was quite embarrassing when it wouldn't start in the parking lot of the W Hotel.

B is actually having the fuel system cleaned out today, but we are not sure that it is related.

This is a known issue with Hondas. I had a 90' Honda and they actually sent me a new starter in the mail which I took to a Honda dealer and had installed for free as part of a recall. I am not sure if there is much you can do.

I think we started by replacing the distributor too. The mechanic called us and told us to come back and he'd replace the starter at no cost.

The 'check engine' light is usually not a good thing. I am not really a car person. I know how to drive and put in gas.

I have had the 'check engine' light go on before, but it went off when the car was restarted. I am told it can sometimes happen because your gas cap isn't on tight.

Have they checked your battery? We also just replaced that, but our battery was about 5 years old, so it was about time.

I am hoping that we can keep our Honda for a bit longer too. We adore it. It has taken us to Austin and back, Chicago and back, and up and down the 5 from SF to LA so many times I have lost count.

Maybe you should call those Car Talk guys?

Dude, you shouldn't be charged again for something the mechanics were supposed to fix the first time! Grrrrr, sorry to hear you're having to deal with this. How frustrating! :-P

Enjoy your beautiful day otherwise! :)
