I wasn't out of gas.

I work in SE Portland on Mondays, and have to drive 40 minutes to get there. I stopped on the way at a Target/Ross/Michael's errand run that's about halfway there. Did my shopping, got back in the car -- it wouldn't start. Cursed a bunch and it still wouldn't start. Sat there pondering what to do, ate the lunch I'd packed, knew it would start again if I waited long enough. I didn't really want to pay for a tow truck when I was so far from the mechanic. Finally 40 minutes later I got it to start and drove straight back to the people who SAID they fixed it last week. Had to call in and tell work I wasn't coming (goodbye $45). On the way back to the mechanic the "check engine" light came on, both pissing me off and making me glad that there is some kind of proof that something is really wrong. It's better than me just saying "it doesn't start sometimes" and of course it starts fine for them. That's probably what happened last week.

So anyway, it's back in the shop. I'll be PISSED if it's now some other $600 thingamajig they want me to replace. As far as I can tell, the thing they charged me for last time was for no other reason than to charge me for "fixing" something.

I fucking hate dealing with this kind of thing. I think I'm going to have a guy friend of mine talk to them tomorrow when they have their new plan ready to discuss, so he can translate for me. He knows cars pretty well and hopefully they won't try to screw me if they know I do have someone with a clue on my side.

GGGGGGGRRRRRR.

(also a little relieved that I wasn't out of gas... it was low, and that was my bad, but that was not the problem.)

IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL TODAY!!!!
