I'm in Colorado now. Fortunately my flight was at 7am, two hours before new security measures were put in place, so I was blissfully unaware that it is possible to blow up a plane using fake toothpaste or baby powder and an ipod battery. I only had run-of-the-mill engine failure/pilot heart attack/bird sucked in the engine/bad weather worries to occupy the flight time. In Portland this morning, I actually was thinking security seemed pretty lax. There was no line whatsoever and I made it to my gate within 10 minutes of being dropped off out front.
However when we got to Denver we had to sit on the plane for 45 minutes because there were no empty gates. All the planes leaving were late because security was so backed up.
I hear Aug 22nd is some kind of apocalyptic Islamic date involving some prophet returning to earth in a flaming chariot or something and ending the world. So I'm really excited to be traveling that day too. I figure Aug 22nd starts in the Middle East, Europe etc before it starts here though, so hopefully things will be figured out before my mid-day flight. Like if the world is ending, I won't need to bother going to the airport. And if it's not, flights won't actually be delayed.
I really hate this world and all these religious freaks that are ruining it.
