Passover begins Monday night, which means I'm going to have to run to Toco Hills this weekend and fight through the crowds of other procrastinating Heebs to pick over the leavings of the Orthodox folks who live in the neighborhood. Odds are, there will be no fruit slices left; but lucky for me, I actually like coconut macaroons, even if they are kind of dry. The Israeli kosher for Passover wines will be sold out, the matzo ball soup mixes will be too old, and the Extra Special, Sugar Not Corn Syrup, Yellow Cap Coca-Cola will be long gone.
While I'm there, I'll have to resist the temptation to buy Pop Tarts and Entenmen's donuts, both of which will inevitably be on sale. The baguettes, too. And the cookies. Hell, the last couple of years it seemed like half the bakery was on sale.
Since the General Assembly is taking off next week for Spring Break, I suspect I'll be home early enough to cook actual dinner. That warrants a trip to Whole Paycheck for grilling meat and the charcoal I forgot two weeks ago.
