Before I start, I would like to thank Half-life, because it was the first PC FPS I beat without cheats, and gave me a lot of confidence to play other FPS games without them, such as the upcoming game which entered my life March 2002, but at the time of Half-life I was only 12, and when I got Renegade I was 14, it seems like an adolescent behaviour for the cheating thing, which I clearly used to do in Duke Nukem.....what seems such a long long time ago now. Also would like to thank all the people I met, the good and bad, which have taught me many lessons, whether it was life lessons or and expansion of computer knowledge, and can't forget those hardcore gameing girls I've had the pleasure of meeting, whether it was just a friendly relationship or *cough* or a lil bit deeper one. ;)
Renegade was my first game I played online, before hand two years ago, it has helped me understand the internet and computers much more than my knowledge of them was 2 years ago. All I mainly did and knew about computers was how to install a game, play the SP, and search the web for strategy guides and sometimes cheats for console games if I was having a hard time beating a level.......I never tried MP then since most of the time you had to register and everything, and I was to lazy to go through the process of registering because mostly I wasn't sure exactly how to since I never have before, but one day I decided to just go ahead and try, so clicked on GS (looked faster to me since when i click it said join/host), but it wasn't and went through getting gamespy arcade.
I ended up successful, installing GS and all, so I decided to try out the MP, since I thought the SP was pretty good so I was curious about what it was like to play with other people, and how hard it would be compared to AI on SP (which was pretty basic and stupid in Ren). So for about a week of learning how to play online, since it was much different than SP (how to work PTs, purchasing of everything, strategy), after playing for a week and learning the basics, the 6 hours of TV I used to watch everyday after school melted into this newfound treasure of entertainment. I'm not sure how much I sucked at the present time, since I was used to surpassing AI in SP compared to facing other people.
