See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

The Winchester Revision (38,289 words) by proxydialogue

Summary: A recently de-deified Chuck, dying in Italy, decides to revise the story of Sam and Dean and Cas to give it the fairytale ending it deserves as a last hurrah before he goes. In a world with no monsters Dean Winchester goes to the University of Delaware for physics and engineering where a terrible twist of fate lands him in a Feminism and Literature class for one of his general electives. It is taught by a dark haired, blue-eyed professor named Castiel. Sam, meanwhile, is a boy genius who gets into college at sixteen and really is going to be a lawyer this time as soon as he finishes his English degree at UDel and gets into Stanford. But the more Chuck writes, the more he discovers about himself, his characters and the friends he will never see again; because some stories must be told.
This is a well-written story that didn't get much love in the Dean-Cas Big Bang this year, and it's a damn shame. There's post-S5 speculation, a bit of meta, and Chuck trying to write something on his own without divine intervention. There are two story lines here: the one about Chuck and the story Chuck is trying to write. Both work incredibly well, with the added bonus that Chuck's early attempts to write on his own actually read like crap!fic until he starts getting into his own groove. It's a bit of characterization that's appealing and well thought out.
Sweet and Sour (14 chapters) by vicxntric

Summary: David knew the old Nick Stokes had to be there somewhere, but in the meantime, he could make do.
I'm reccing this for the rare pairing of David Hodges and Nick Stokes and for the fact that the author did a hella good job of creating a believable scenario where David Hodges and Nick Stokes could possibly end up in bed together. I'm not in CSI fandom any longer, but this is still a go-to story for me.

Summary: Three months after Sam says yes to Lucifer, the Morningstar wants to see his little brother. Lucifer requires a lieutenant that he can trust, so he sets about molding Castiel into what he wants, while Castiel struggles to keep hold of his sanity and self-identity.
This is a difficult story to get through, even if you aren't particularly triggered by what goes on. The issue for me was the high level of despair throughout, yet even so, there was an undercurrent of hope that never quite died away. I started reading because it was Castiel-centric; I continued reading, because it showed a complicated relationship between Castiel and Lucifer.
