Day 1

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Drop a link to your post in the comments.

For more information, see Snowflake Challenge at akamine-chan's Dreamwidth account.

Pour Away The Ocean (Stop All The Clocks Remix) (3280 words) by
elementalv
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Rating: Mature
Warning: Major Character Death
Relationships: Rupert Giles/Oz Osbourne
Characters: Rupert Giles, Oz Osbourne
Summary: Oz needs to get out of Sunnydale.

This was the first remix I ever wrote, and I also think it includes some of the best writing I've ever done. I'm including it here, because it represents the point at which I started taking the writing I do in fandom more seriously than I had been up to that point. Thanks to a spectacular beta by malnpudl, I was finally able to see where I could go as a writer and stop fucking around with it already.

Mettle Of A Woman (1250 words) by
elementalv
Fandom: Supernatural
Rating: Explicit
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: John Winchester/Missouri Moseley
Characters: John Winchester, Missouri Moseley
Summary: John never gives voice to the thought - he doesn’t like to think what Missouri would do to him if he did - but she is, to him, a miracle of forbearance and no-nonsense encouragement.

I wrote this partly out of irritation with Kripke and company for either killing off or writing out every interesting female character they've had on Supernatural, partly out of irritation with fandom for making John Winchester such a one-dimensional bastard, and partly out of irritation with society in general for not recognizing that heavy and obese women can, in fact, be pretty damn sensual and sexy. I don't know -- maybe this is the writer's equivalent of hate sex? Either way, I really like the idea that Missouri and John had a relationship all those years, and I wish more people would write them together.

Red Five and Red Two (3346 words) by
elementalv
Fandom: Supernatural
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester
Summary: He’s already getting to the website when Bobby asks, “How’d you know he’d use that name?” Intent on getting Sam’s location, Dean answers, “You kiddin’ me? What don’t I know about that kid?”

Pre-series history intrigues me whenever canon chooses to share with us, and the line from ep. 4x01 of Supernatural (quoted in the summary) is a gut punch every time I watch that scene, and not just because Dean knows Sam that well. It's also because there had to be a reason Sam was so tied to the Wedge Antilles alias, and that's why this story came to be.

Lost (1690 words) by
elementalv
Fandom: due South
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Benton Fraser/Ray Kowalski
Summary: Ray gets through life one hour at a time, some days.

I wrote this as an antidote to having mainlined too many post-CotW happy endings fics, and I'm the first to admit that I may have swung the pendulum a little too far to the other side. However, the idea gave me a chance to explore storytelling by way of negative space -- the shape is in the details I don't share -- and I think it worked well. Warning: It's not happy, and it's not tidy. There's no miracle cure at the end.
