Godric had no esteem for a captain that would so debase his passengers. The man was both puerile and petty, an authority figure worth neither respecting nor enduring. Godric's instincts, held in check longer than most humans could claim life, wanted to see the man brought to a slow and bloody end. On his head be it that they would meet in a dark corridor.

"I'm glad." And he was. An outsider attempting to dispense justice for a vampire's crimes was not only unwelcome, but unwarranted. Even now, days later and with that paltry punishment faded from all but memory, it roused an ire he had not known in a century.

But regardless of anger, it was Eric who had earned it first. His child, kneeling now before him, who had only been acting as he had learned from his maker. He was of a like age now as Godric had been when he turned him. The consideration was a dangerous one.

"What you did is in direct violation of my policies here," he said finally, formally. "Explain." He was not asking for excuses - which was just as well - as Eric would not offer them. The older vampires operated on several different levels of motive and forethought, and Eric, who had once been a leader of men, was no stranger to parallel thought.
