Marco took a place on the wall when ordered, standing stiffly. Though it had been years since he's been in the military, he usually ended up standing at attention when getting orders from the organization. It was basically reflex, but at least he'd long since stopped saluting.
Razer didn't seem all that agreeable, but since he was the one who'd called this party together Marco accepted him as the 'commanding officer' for the duration. The orders were met with a 'Roger,' and Marco relaxed and moved over to his assigned partner.

"I guess we should get started. I'm Marco, by the way."

"Alita," she replied with a grin. He seemed like a nice enough young man. So far. She gestured down the hallway. "Start on three, work our way up to one?"

She was used to taking orders herself. Still, this boat gave her freedom from TUNED so far.

Marco nodded. Normally he'd stick in a polite 'nice to meet you' or something, but they had work to do. Or attempt to do, at least.

"I was thinking the same thing." He started towards the elevators, assuming she was following.

Alita was right behind him, footfalls light and easy on the deck. "I'm not sure if we'll find anything, but it's worth taking a look around."

"I've been through most of the decks before, at least briefly. But it wouldn't hurt to check again."

He shrugged a bit. "I guess two heads are better than one. And I haven't been through that forest much."

"Two pairs of eyes will spot more than one," she replied. Although, she had quite a bit of confidence in he own abilities. This guy wasn't even a cyborg. She tapped the elevator button and leaned against the wall to wait.

"I don't think I've seen the forest much either. What do you know about it?"

"Or ears, as the case may be."

Marco idly watched the elevator, crossing his arms. "Its a forest. Trees, vines, water...didn't see any animals, though. Seems like a normal forest from my world aside from that, and the fact that its here. Apparently there's supposed to be a water park there."

There weren't many forests in Alita's world. Mostly just rocks and desert. She laughed softly. "Haven't seen much of that in a while. There isn't much except desert where I'm from."

"They're getting rarer where I'm from, too. Can't say I spent much time in them myself."

The elevator dinged as the doors opened, and Marco stepped inside. He waited for Alita to enter before hitting the '3' button.

"I still can't quite get over there being something like that on this tub."

"There's too many strange things on this boat. A deck that burns but doesn't harm the ship. A cave network. A maze." Alita shrugged. "Sometimes I feel like I'm living in a strange dream...."

"Oddly, the fire doesn't seem quite as odd as the forest. Probably because the forest is so natural and yet, simply by being so, so unnatural. The rest I expect to be unnatural."

He shook his head. "I don't know. A dream may be the most logical explination."

"If it is, we're all dreaming the same dream... and I'm not sure what I'm doing at home." She sighed as the elevator continued its upward journey.

"It's a bit better than back home, I guess."

"I'd rather not think about what might be happening to me if I'm just dreaming at home."

He canted his head a bit. "Is it?"

"Yeah..."

Alita shrugged. She wasn't that reluctant to share her story - it wasn't like he could use it against her. Not here. Besides, she had ideas now. She had a plan. Well, she had, anyway. "Back home I was a tool for Tephares. I was a puppet. Here, I have a bit of freedom. In theory, anyway."

"Ah..."

Marco nodded slowly. "I can see why you'd prefer to be here, then. I've...got a debt to pay off back home, too."

"It's not so much a debt. More like it was the only way for me to find someone I've been looking for. Not sure if I ever will now..."

She shrugged again.
