THIS FIC IS SO FUCKING AMAZING. SO. FUCKING. AMAZING. I don't know if you know this, but bookshop and I talk regularly about the concept of Mal being in the real world somewhere and them needing to assemble a team--the team-- to go into Cobb's head, and fuck if you didn't write everything and more that would ever need to be said about this storyline. And Mal is so real, so strong, so perfect, so much the woman we wish Nolan made her in the movie.

And Arthur. Jesus. Arthur. Like this half child half lover, like the third part of Cobb-and-Mal.

I keep saying things like this but this time I think it's the truth:

the best way i can describe it is that *hours* after i read it i still felt shell-shocked, like something had happened to me. and i still feel that way after waking this morning. I think i actually may have dreamed about this fic last night, like i was still trying to process it and my own reaction to it, and the children growing up, and Mal wearing fuck-me heels again and opening up her lab in the basement, and Arthur wearing Dom's clothes, and the Arthur/Mal (Jesus Christ the Arthur/Mal), and the symbology of rings and steel and totems, and just. i feel this fic like a physical weight on my chest. i feel like i'm still grappling with it.

i like to flail a lot when i review fics because it's easy and fun to be hyperactive. so if you've been on the meme you've probably seen me leaving squeeful all-cap reactions everywhere. but i can't comfortably articulate at this point how deep this fic sunk into me, because it's so rare that fanfiction does that on such an intense level. like i can count on less than one hand the number of

and goddamnit i love that this is what fandom does, that we make what we love and that it moves us. i love that this is absolutely not traditional media but it can touch us just as much. i love that this story was that for you.
