Fanfic100: Prompt 023. Lovers
Okay. Because the NaNo isn't going great, and I only have 500 words written, and I'm tired of it already, Murtagh fic!
This is set in the Forsworn 'verse, though you can't tell--for Prompt 23 --Lovers.
Also it is a futurefic. That is, after Inheritance:

Nasuada kisses him, finally, after all of it's over. Galbatorix fallen and Murtagh's demons finally laid to rest, and Eragon gone over the sea with his elf-princess and his dragon, leaving Roran to rule.
Murtagh is glad. He wants no part of anything, anymore, now that the other half of his soul is gone.
Nasuada kisses him, and she tastes like summer, and peace, and hope. It's far too easy to respond, and he says, drawing breath "I--I don't think I can love you--" trying to save himself from drowning though he's already in way over his head.
Nasuada smiles, bittersweet, says "Maybe I can't either?" And they kiss again. He's reminded of the Nasuada he once knew, a lady even in war, beautiful and strong and everything he wished his mother was. His mother, who he never knew, not really.
He lets himself drown, into this new Nasuada, not the brave girl of before, but a shattered woman who lived through a war, and doesn't think she can love again. He's proud of her.
