End of last week I picked up a cold, probably from one of the kids. Just a standard 'walking dead' sort of thing, were I was almost functional most of the time.
On Tuesday I was _sick_. I took the bus into work, drank lots of herbal tea, and actually got something done with my day.
On Wednesday I was clearly on the mend. I biked in with energy, got quite a bit of writing done, and then hit a very lovely aerobic level on my ride home.
Thursday morning seemed okay, I spent the day talking, and then the ride home _flattened_ me. Ugliness, exhaustion. I was miserable.
Friday morning I woke up feeling just fine...and then started coughing. And coughing. And coughing. Drugs didn't help. A shower didn't help. So N made up a concoction. Something an ex-boyfriend used to do. Ginger, garlic, lemon juice, honey, salt. _Concentrated_, and we were out of lemon juice so substitute lime, and we were out of honey, so none of that. Serious rub for some tough piece of meat. The instructions: gargle the stuff.
What the hell, I tried it. I think that my teeth puckered when I put it in my mouth. I gargled it. I think that it made the drain fitting in the sink rust, even though I rinsed the sink quite well.
But it did stop the cough.
Friday night we hosted Shabbos dinner, and for the most part I felt just fine.
Saturday I took the trike out for a solo spin, and pushed myself to near my aerobic limit. Still felt fine.
So I guess throat marinade is works.
When I asked, N said that she never uses the stuff herself.
