Wow, I hadn't seen this when it first came out but
it just made me all choked-up and stuff. It's a topic I've talked about before, that friends of mine have talked about before (I remember
elfiepike having a particularly great post about it), but this one was really, really well executed.
Also, I was watching How I Met Your Mother episodes earlier when I couldn't sleep, and
I heard a line I'd heard a million times like it was the first confusing time. It's when Ted and Robin have just had sex again for the first time after deciding to be "friends with benefits", and they're lying in bed panting and this exchange happens:
Ted: Wow.
Robin: I know. It's like riding a bike, huh, buddy?
Ted: Riding a bike upside-down, maybe.
So I'd never really given that line a second thought. But I was sleep-deprived so I wondered: is it just a joke about Ted being on bottom and kicking a lot? Or is he saying that sex with Robin is inherently frustrating and unintuitive?
Sue me, I'm at work and it's been a weird night and I am trying to distract myself.
