Road to Santiago

So, I went in with my apprentice sister to have a booth at Kris Kinder - a large shopping focused event last weekend. While making some sales is good, the primary purpose for me was to encourage practice.
I never met an artefact I didn't like - and often, I see something and say "I need to make that for (blank)". So I go ahead and try to make it.  Sometimes that turns out well, and other times, the fact I haven't done enough practice comes back and bites me.
So by making dress accesory items for possible sale, I'm getting some practice. And it worked! I've done more actual (rather than theoretical) work in the last few months than in the previous 6.
My goal is to have a fairly encyclopediac knowledge of dress accessories - what items, with what, in which time period or place, AND how to create them. Both the focused research and the making of sale items is assisting me on that journey.  So I am going to continue merchanting - as a method to facilitate the journey.
I also saw a movie recently, "The Way" about walking the pilgrimage route to St. John of Compostela. It resonated with me, and I want to do it, perhaps for my 50th birthday. So the end result of my merchant activities, will also to help add to a pilgrimage fund.
