Man, I feel like I haven't posted in weeks. But it's only been three days.

I rewatched All That Jazz for the whatevereth time Friday night. I still really love it. Everyone goes on about Bob Fosse's choreography, but I think they overlook how well he handles actors. The little moments of hurt in this film never fail to get to me. And it's

Fosse was so damned good at so much.
Roy Scheider is so good in that movie, it's easy to forget he's not Fosse, and that Fosse was directing him to be that good. To be that much of a likeable asshole.

Men of Taste

Sorry the show didn't please you more... Pushing the offensive envelope is far from my only creative goal in life. On the other hand, Hetzel and I share a taste for bawdy, raw comedy and it only made sense to embrace it... We thought the clearly ironic title would cue people to the show's style of comedy. I wanted to satisfy expectations... Unfortunately the line between meeting expectations and predictability is a fine one. The show was an experiment for Hetz and me. We plan to fine tune it and have another go at it somewhere in the next few months... I hope you give us another shot.

Thank you though for being one of the only people to laugh at Peter Lorre describing himself as "sometimes skinny sometimes fat, depending on the movie." I knew you'd like that...

Wow! When did you get on LJ?

Sorry about the review, it does come off more dismissive than I meant it to. That tends to happen unless you're writing a whole novel or something. I did enjoy the show more than not enjoy the show.

Maybe I'm just burnt out on confrontational stuff, and broadly self-aware tastelessness kind of blends into that.

I do intend to watch whatever you and Hetz do next, you guys make an amazing team.

Do not fret! I don't expect a show like Men of Taste to be everybody's, well, taste. I just wanted to clarify our intentions... I'm pleased to see people expressing their actual opinions about shows and hope my making a comment won't stop you (or anyone else) from doing so in the future...

I actually signed up for LJ about a month ago but was swept away with work. I still haven't posted anything on my actual page yet... Mainly I want to get in the habit of writing more often and thought LJ might be a good way to do it. Also, Joe and I are planning some Live Journal satire for the Scrimshaw Show so I decided to just jump in... Kind of write what you know, only backwards.

Again, thanks for coming to the show...
