The combination of classes, work, and a few social obligations have greatly reduced the available downtime during which I can ponder and come up with meaningless prose. I'll just have to try harder to work more efficiently so that I can blow it all on updating my LJ.
A few highlights from recent events.
*My bro got hitched. Sister-in-law and family are really cool. My niece-in-law should be the poster child for Energizer.
*Took my first long distance trip in my car down to San Diego to pick up my cousin. Got close to 31.5 mpg during the trip. Not bad Hyundai.
*Got my first big test of the quarter coming up tomorrow and I'm definitely not ready. Eigenvalue? Eigenvector? Shear Tensors? Whatcha talking about Willis?!
*1 month down, 11 more to go. Let's hope the pace slows down to a steady state.
Other than that, not much else to report. Oh, before I forget, let me mention this...
I was sitting in the hallway last night, getting some reading done before my evening class on Lightweight Aircraft Structures. I didn't plan it, but the floor space that I claimed sat directly opposite of the ground floor women's restroom in this particular building. Being somewhat sensitive to my surroundings, I couldn't but help notice the traffic going in and out of the place. Yes, just like men, the women often raced through the doors on a most urgent mission to find relieve from internal stresses. They came in all types, all races, all sizes; a perfect cross section of the campus population. One particular made me chuckle.
Now visualize. 5'4" slender Asian woman. Long straight hair, about down to the elbows, drawn back with one of those hair accessories that looks like a tiara (help me out ladies). She's got on a form fitting black tank top and a colorful shirt over it that's left unbuttoned, jeans, black leather belt with a fashionable buckle, and walking on 2" platforms. Over one shoulder, a larger black Guicci handbag and in her hand... what else, a cell phone. Yes, she was most definitely easy on the eyes.
With my nose deep into my textbook, I wouldn't have noticed her if it wasn't for her loud, animated conversation over her cell. I could hear her come from down around the hall well before she came into view. She was on the phone with one of her girl friends, yapping away as she entered the restroom. Immediately, one of those questions for the ages came to being. "How is she going to maintain her conversation while in the restroom?"
I continued to ponder this in wonder while she proceeded to do her business, all the time continuing her animated conversation with the other party. I could hear through the door vents comments like, "No way!" "You're joking right?" "Right...!", over the next minute or so. Sure enough, there was the sound of the stall opening, closing, followed by a flush, the bang of an opening door, the squeal of a water faucet, the clank of a paper towel dispenser, and finally the sound of sucking air as the restroom door was jerked wide open. I look up to see the young lady still on the phone and continuing her conversation.
All I've got to say is, wow. How the heck did she manage all that while still on the phone?
