I had a dismaying conversation the other day. It wasn't quite the most annoying case of someone I don't really know showing off their awfulness I've ever experienced-that was 8 years ago and I hope it remains a lifetime nadir-but it reminded me of that one.

US farmers are moving to Mexico, in response to their employees no longer being able to move to the US. At the other end of the scale, Microsoft is opening a BC software development centre, to employ people for whom they failed to get H1B visas. The US had this coming, and I hope it prompts a saner discussion of immigration.
