Run Report: Sleep is a very important fuel!

I was bound and determined to break through that 15-minute wall when I finally got out.

Truth be told, I had two times when I wasn't sure I'd make it.

First time was at the beginning of my first interval. Ow ow ow. Had to shake loose some minor aches and pains before they turned into major aches and pains.

Then, during my second interval, I lost track of time. Was it three minutes or four? I wasn't going to be content with 'oh just call it four and call it good lol', and it was still doable, but if I thought about it too much... I decided to JUST SHUT UP AND RUN.

And sure enough, on my fourth interval, I pushed through. I was breathing harder than I have in a long time. I was starting to hurt all over. I was getting barked at. (I would have appreciated a "WOO!" at this time, but none came.) But. I did it! Fifteen minutes plus. I celebrated right in the middle of the road with the barking dogs serenading me.

I even did a bonus interval, just an easy two minutes. Helped me cool down. It was almost kind of fun.

See what a decent night of sleep can do? Not willing to drink wine every night to get it done (my liver just thanked me), but absolutely something to strive for.

So. I have Goal Patrol bracelets 3 and 4 on now. Whichever goal I pass next - be it 20 minutes cumulative or a 10-minute interval - will be goal 3. The way things are going, I'll pass the 20 minute goal first, and soon. Maybe next Friday?

I ran farther than my usual route, too. A block this way, a different turn here, a wander around there. And I ran uphill quite a bit too. In all likelihood I probably did 3.1 miles (5 kilometers, doncha know) worth of intervals. And survived. Bring on September 18!

I was going to sort some things out this afternoon, but I think I'll chill out until I go get Mickie from school. The closets can wait. And I'm tired. How long has it been since I've napped on the couch while soap operas blabbed on the TV?
