Friday night, my buddy John & his wife Jen got together to see Iron Man. Damn, what a great movie! John, who is a huge iron man fan really liked it as well. Going from comic book to film, things usually need to be updated to more modern times while at the same time as keeping the spirit of the hero's origins in-line with the comic. John seemed to be very happy with the way they handeled everything which is a great sign. I haven't seen a movie on opening night in awhile, so it was great to react with a nearly full theater. Damn good movie, I really really want to see it again soon.
Man, comic book adaptions seem to be really big all of sudden. It seems at first they were considered a joke, but then when someone finally started handeling the medium with some respect (Sam Raimi aka Spiderman director) then they started to take off. It's interesting, the phases holywood goes through. Disaster films had a brief resurgance, now it seems that superhero's etc are the big thing.
We adopted a rescue dog named Greta. Emily's been wanting a dog for awhile, me - well I've figured out that I'm more of a cat person - but I still like dogs. I am liking Greta though, she's a great dog and with some manners classes she'll be even better, though she's actually pretty good for the most part now. She just needs a little help in certain area's like not bolting out the door when you open it. We're aware of that so we've managed to stop it so far. Having a dog with a child is a whole new area of micro-managing... lol. Our biggest problem though, is actually with the cats. When we first met Greta, she had some serious problems with trying to either play to aggresivly with them or trying to attack them - I can't tell what. I think her instincs were to go after small 'game' and the cats fall into that catagory in her eyes. So the rescuirs took Greta and worked with her. Our second and final meeting went really realy well and that's when we took her officially. However, the sort of problems we're seeing now weren't going to be noticed just on a visit. In any case, here's the run-down: Smokey thinks that Greta is Lucy or Lucy like enough to try play-attacking the dog, or is showing Greta that she's the dominating animal in the house. Whatever the case, she uses her claws and there have been a few moments that Greta gets attacked by something she's supposed to ignore and starts howling (very very loudly) in pain/confusion. Those moments are fun let me tell you. The other thing is that Bella (our other kitty) seems to favor Greta's food over her own.
Other than those things which can be worked on, Ashley seems to be adjusting ok to the newcomer. This is our first weekend with them spending all day, and unfortunately I'm at work. I'll have to see how it went when I come home.
